5 year old Princess

My Pretty Princess-Loving Girly Girl turned five years old in October and it was harder than I thought it would be.

As most friends of mine know, CRC has Albinism and vision difficulties so I've always tended to nurture her {some would say "baby"},therefore, I've always thought of her as my "baby!" Even after JClaire was born I couldn't let go of CRC being my baby! For a long time, I wouldn't accept that she was growing up. {Calling myself out again...}I let her have a pacifier for WAY too long. We won't say just how long, but let's just say a LOT of people mentioned it to me and I would always tell them
"She's my baby! She won't go to kindergarten with it!" Haha..
But finally, around the time of her fifth birthday, I accepted it and embraced the fact and for that, I learned to respect her brilliance and watch just how mature and smart she had really become! She wasn't/isn't a baby anymore. She's grown into such a smart, quick witted, gorgeous 5 year old little girl. She will start Kindergarten this coming school year and I'm just a little bit emotional about it!

She got her ears pierced this month! She begged me for them and she did so great!

She was the only one that would pose for a picture with me on New Years Eve-2014!

Smiling big and having fun at her Christmas party :)

At the lake scavenger hunt with CDC's Girl Scout Troop

Sporting some awesome braids. I love love her hair! (Is it ok to be envious of your own child's hair?!)

...and as another mom friend said "Lady Gaga's early years" {Although, I definitely do not want her to turn out like Gaga!}

And hugs for mommy after her Princess Sofia 5th Birthday Party!

  1. I was searching for my GF's blog and came across your interesting one. Loved how your daughter begged to have her ears pierced. Your story reminded of a funny experience when we had our 4 year old daughter's ears pierced and I didn't have her sibling ears pierced on the same day.

After piercing our ODD's ears for her birthday with my sister, we came home and showed daddy. He really loved them. What happened next surprised me. Dh asked why I hadn't had her sister, a 14 months old girl ears pierced! I didn't know what to say, but then our 4 yr chimed in saying she wanted her sissy to have matching earrings like hers (CZ studs). I told hubby maybe her younger sib was too young? Wrong. Now my family was ganging up on me!

Everyone wanted BOTH my girls to have pierced ears since they were so close and shared everything!

The next day, dh calls out to me from the family room asking me to come in there. Our 4 yr had gotten a pair of my earrings and was trying to put them in her younger sister's ears! She almost put one in her ear canal! Dh laughed and told me, I told you that you should have pierced all the girls ears. Please take her sister to have them pierced before we had to take her to the ER or to remove an earring!

I went the next day and had Missy's ears pierced and her sissy held her while I took pictures. She barely shed a tear and sissy was so excited. Don't know if you've considered having your YDD's ears pierced.

Admittedly, I don't know why I didn't do all the girls that same day, however, looking back it actually was a good idea and it wasn't even mine :) I was the only one who needed convincing.

Don't know if you remotely thought of having your YDD's ears pierced. However, if so, then maybe your mommy intuition is telling you now is good time. Promise the girls would both look adorable in her pictures with cute earrings :)!

    1. Aww! I love your story, Amy! :) Thank you for sharing. I honestly didn't want to get my youngest daughters pierced until she was five years old or older, but she told me tonight she wanted earrings! I was like what? Are you sure? She said YES! I want Princess Sofia earrings. haha. So neat.

I'd love to follow your blog!
